Hi guys, thought I would give you an insight to my accidental career, I come from a background of 22 years of dance, I have been choreographing, Judging, DJ-ing, Event organising and teaching for the past 20 years, all over the world. I have taught Line Dance, Swing, Ballroom & Latin.
I have travelled 22 countries and have helped 11,700 people with their dance holidays in my 21-years of business.
My career started at age 17, and I must firstly thank my sister for my accidental career. When I was a kid I enjoyed playing out with other kids, computer games and TV! what kid didn't ;-)
1995
Roll on a few years and I was 16, just left school started an apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery, and I clearly remember it was summer time and my sister wanted to start dancing, but she couldn't go by herself as she needed a chaperone, guess who got nominated, poor old me! What I didn't know was that this was the making of me as a person, and the start of an incredible journey into the unknown world of dance, travel and a whole lot more!.
After a few weeks my sister gave up the dancing, and I was gutted! I was enjoying the music, the people, and of course the dancing - it was flipping amazing. What I didn't realise is I was good at dance and after a few months passed I could not get enough of learning different types of dance and was going on more workshops and learning so much, it was incredible.
1996
At age 17 I decided I wanted to teach dance, I absolutely loved the idea of doing something I had a passion for, so I opened dance classes right across Cheshire and North Wales teaching all ages at all levels. within the first 12 months I had 5 regular weekly classes, and was organising 24 events a year.
1998
About 2 years into my dance career I wanted more and really wanted to get in to choreography, so I did, and this was the start of working aboard and over the years I have travelled to at least 22 countries, what an amazing experience I have had doing something I love and getting paid.
2000
As I became more successful and was travelling more and more, and eventually I was winning awards for my work, I was totally blown away and loved every minute, and even had the opportunity to perform in the closing ceremony of Manchester’s Commonwealth Games.
This year was extra special as my mum and dad decided to have another child, however they ended up being twins (they are now 18) OMG how time flies.
2006
This is where my career took a slight change in direction, I was still doing classes, but instead of travelling the world for workshops I decided to start a dance travel agency, to be honest I didn't know where I was going with it and didn't expect it to grow into the one the biggest dance companies across the UK and Europe.
2017
As always I contact each person to ask them questions about their holiday, as all I want to do is make it better each and every time. I will always listen and if I can I will always make change. Last few years many have asked me to arrange their personal holiday, unfortunately, I couldn't because I wasn't ATOL protected, but it got me thinking, if I can provide amazing dance holidays then I can provide amazing travel anywhere!
2018
Mi Travel was born on the back of customers demand, so Dance Fever Holidays will run as a separate company however Mi Travel is there to help you with ALL your travel needs, I can't wait to help you with your next holiday.
