MY AIM

​To promote modern line dancing to a new generation of dancers in a fun, personal and sociable way. I want to encourage newcomers to grow in to competent dancers and future instructors, ensuring the survival of my greatest passion – LINE DANCE!

MY STORY

My name is Glynn Rodgers and I am a fully qualified BWDA instructor with over 20 years experience of social line dancing . I began dancing in 1995 at the age of 8 and passed my teacher training exams in 2005.

I have been choreographing dances since 2004 under the name Glynn "Applejack" Rodgers, or back then, "AJ" for short. The name Applejack was my screen name on the old linedancer message board/chat room which is the name most people knew me by. So when I started writing dances, I put it on my scripts to link the dances with my real name - and that's where "Applejack" comes from.

​I began teaching in 2004 at the age of 17, under the name of Star Strutting Liners, when the previous instructor retired and I was asked to take over. I ran regular classes for the next few years, concentrating on beginner and improver level dancers.

With the arrival of my second child and the closure of my regular venue, I believed it was time to step down from teaching and concentrate on social dancing once again. I continued to teach in a limited capacity over the following years, covering other classes in the area and teaching my own choreography where possible.

My belief has always been that beginners are the key to the longevity of line dancing, but there are a limited number of classes suitable for new dancers. Because of this, I decided to return to teaching in late 2017. I rebranded as AJ Dance, initially aiming to cater directly to absolute beginners with little or no dance experience, but also providing classes for the more experienced dancers.
